How has Icebox changed in every patch?

Icebox has been changed in 10 patches, most recently in patch 10.04. Each entry links to the full notes.

  1. Patch 10.04
    • Icebox and Ascent are back IN the COMPETITIVE and DEATHMATCH queues.
  2. Patch 9.08
  3. Patch 9.02
    • Icebox enters Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay, and Deathmatch queues.
  4. Patch 8.01
    • Icebox
      • Fixed a bug where you could stand on the container in B Green.
  5. Patch 8.0
    • Attacker Side Spawn
      • Storage container has been added on the left side to block line of sight from Attacker Spawn to B Tube.
    • B Green
      • The hanging container in B Green was creating a lot of complexity for both fights on the ground and people boosting up top. Moving the container out of the way should make combat here more manageable.
    • B Tube Exterior
      • We felt that Mid could use more value for either team holding it. We've added a window toward the end of B Tube that overlooks Mid and can see towards A Site and Defender Spawn. It allows Attackers to assert a lot of pressure on rotators and Defenders should be able to hold more space when holding Mid from B Kitchen or Mid Boiler.
    • B Tube Interior
      • Added two boxes stacked flush to the wall.
    • B Snow Pile
      • There were multiple parallel paths leading from Mid to B Site. To reduce timings and create more predictable fights we've removed the B Orange route closest to B Kitchen.
      • Adjusted the snowpile leading up to B Kitchen so you can now silently drop off the boxes.
  6. Patch 6.08
    • Icebox rotates out of Competitive and Unrated queues.
  7. Patch 3.08
    • Viper’s Ultimate will no longer spawn incorrectly when placed on top of the shipping crates on B site located on Icebox
  8. Patch 3.06
    • The crate stack on B site is no longer pennable, this is to create a safer planting option for attackers
    • Icebox minimap and vision cones will now correctly display near B Yellow callout.
      • Thanks to @TheLumberjAxe for the catch.
  9. Patch 1.14
    • Reduced the height of the A Belt area and connected it via a ramp to the platform below.
      • This puts the upper A Belt area more in line with the rest of the verticality in the site.
      • Acquiring targets up top also requires less vertical movement of the crosshair.
    • Added a see-through gate here that can't be passed from the ground level.
      • Pathing should hopefully be more predictable from attackers approaching the site and defenders retaking the site.
    • Sloped the wall (first image) and replaced the double stack of Radianite crates in the site with a smaller object (second image)
      • This should allow attackers to approach the site more safely, and a quicker retake of the site for defenders
    • Reduced the height of the yellow container.
      • This allows the top of the container to be fully cleared from several angles as well as reduces the amount of crosshair displacement required when aiming at targets on top of the container
  10. Patch 1.10
    • Early in the patch, players queuing for Unrated will more often get placed on Icebox
    • Ascenders (Ropes) / Ziplines
      • Acceleration adjusted to prevent sudden shifts in direction (this was added last patch but wasn't in the patch notes because well, you might start asking about ziplines)
      • Added weapon tagging when shot while on Ascenders
      • These changes are intended to make players that are using Ascenders and Ziplines less evasive during combat.
