The VALORANT Champions Tour Americas has officially announced its group compositions for Stage 2, introducing significant changes that will reshape the competitive landscape. During the special draw show held at the Riot Games Arena on May 5, 2025, three pairs of teams were selected to switch between Group Alpha and Group Omega, creating fresh matchups and rivalries for the upcoming stage.
The Draw Process
The group redistribution followed a structured format with teams organized into three distinct pools based on their Stage 1 group stage performance:
- Pool 1: First and second seed teams
- Pool 2: Third and fourth seed teams
- Pool 3: Fifth and sixth-seed teams
From each pool, one pairing was randomly selected to switch groups. The results saw G2 Esports and KRÜ Esports (first seeds) exchanging places, Cloud9 and 100 Thieves (third seeds) swapping groups, and LOUD and FURIA (sixth seeds) also switching sides. This strategic reshuffling ensures competitive balance while creating new storylines for fans to follow.

Exciting Matchups To Be Expected
The newly formed groups promise thrilling encounters, particularly in Group Alpha, where Stage 1 grand finalists G2 Esports and Sentinels will face off in a highly anticipated rematch. Group Alpha now features three powerhouse North American organisations with Evil Geniuses joining the mix, creating what many already call the “group of death.”
Meanwhile, Group Omega has transformed into a South American showcase, with KRÜ Esports leading the charge against Masters Toronto-bound MIBR. The group also features LEVIATÁN and LOUD, two organisations currently rebuilding their rosters and strategies after mixed results in Stage 1.
Way to Champions 2025
Unlike the 2024 season, this year’s format treats each stage independently, giving teams a clean slate for Stage 2. This means previous results won’t carry over, offering underperforming teams from Stage 1 a fresh opportunity to qualify for Champions 2025.
VCT Americas Stage 2 is scheduled to begin on July 18, 2025. The top two teams from the playoffs will secure direct qualification to Champions 2025. The remaining teams must accumulate championship points to keep their hopes alive for the year-end global tournament.
The $250,000 prize pool and championship points distribution will add further stakes to the competition. Each match victory in the group stage earns teams valuable circuit points that could determine their season’s fate.
