Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) has made history by defeating Gen.G Esports 3-1 in the grand finals of VCT 2025 Pacific Stage 1, claiming their first-ever VALORANT trophy and securing the region’s top seed for Masters Toronto next month.

Historic Victory Breaks Regional Duopoly

This championship victory carries profound significance as it breaks the long-standing duopoly in Pacific VALORANT. Since the inception of franchising, only Paper Rex and Gen.G had lifted Pacific trophies. RRQ’s path to the title required defeating both powerhouses-overcoming Paper Rex in a thrilling five-map Lower Bracket Final before conquering Gen.G in the Grand Final.

For RRQ’s head coach, Ewok, who has been with the organization since the beginning of its VCT journey alongside player David “xffero” Monangin, this victory represents the culmination of nearly three years of development and perseverance.

The Grand Final Showdown

Gen.G entered the final with a map veto advantage from the upper bracket, which they leveraged immediately by taking Haven 13-8. However, RRQ demonstrated remarkable resilience, flipping the script entirely for the remainder of the series.

On Ascent, RRQ surged to a commanding 9-0 lead before Gen.G mounted a second-half comeback on defense. Despite the pressure, RRQ held firm to secure a 13-11 victory, leveling the series at 1-1.

Lotus followed with another back-and-forth battle in the early stages, but once RRQ switched to defense, their coordination and utility usage suffocated Gen.G’s attacks. The map ended 13-9 in RRQ’s favor, putting them one win away from the championship.

The decisive map was Icebox, where the first half ended in a 6-6 stalemate. Though Gen.G fought desperately to stay alive, the duo of Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov and Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha proved too dominant, combining for 49 kills to secure a 13-11 victory and the championship.

Road to the Title

Led by coach Ngô “crazyguy” Công Anh, RRQ topped Group Omega during the regular season with a 3-2 record, securing wins against TALON, ZETA DIVISION, and T1, while falling to Nongshim RedForce and Team Secret.

Their playoff journey began with a close 2-1 victory over DRX before suffering a 2-0 sweep against Gen.G in the Upper Bracket Final. Facing elimination, RRQ then overcame Paper Rex in an electrifying five-map thriller- their first-ever best-of-five win in VCT history- setting up the redemption match against Gen.G.

RRQ Secures Masters Toronto Spot

With this championship, RRQ has secured the Pacific region’s first seed at Masters Toronto, granting them a direct spot in the eight-team double-elimination playoff bracket. This means they’ll bypass the Swiss Stage entirely, joining the Stage 1 winners from other international leagues.

The victory also awards RRQ five Championship points, putting them in an excellent position for potential qualification to Champions 2025 in Paris. Gen.G will also advance to Masters Toronto, earning three Championship points for their runner-up finish, while Paper Rex rounds out the Pacific representatives as the region’s third seed.

As RRQ prepares for their international debut in Toronto next month, they’ll have extra time to prepare and get settled, carrying not just their team’s hopes but the pride of Indonesian VALORANT onto the global stage.
