Keeping your VALORANT account secure is easier than ever with two-factor authentication introduced during Episode 1. Every day, players lose their accounts to hackers, but there’s a simple solution that takes just minutes to set up.
2FA, or multi-factor authentication in Riot Games account, can protect everything from your precious skin to your competitive rank. Let’s check out how this 2FA works in Valorant and get you set up.
What is 2FA?
Two-factor authentication is like having a double-lock system for your account. Instead of just using a password, you’ll need a verification code sent to your email every time you log in. 2FA ensures you can access your account only, keeping hackers away from your stuff and payment info. You can also choose the option “Remember this device for 30 Days” not to use the 2FA code every time you log in, and this will ask for the code if you log in from another device.
How to Setup 2FA in Riot Games Account
- Log into your Riot account.
- Click your username in the top right
- Head to Account Settings
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section
- Click Enable
- Check your email and click the verification link
How it Works
Every time you try to log in, you’ll get an email with an authentication code with 6 digits. Just enter that code along with your password, and you’re in! You can check the “Remember this device for 30 days” option so you don’t always have to enter codes.
Valorant Google Authenticator 2FA
Valorant does not yet offer 2FA via the Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator apps, which are easier to use apart from email. However, we also hope to have this one in the Riot Games accounts.
Conclusion
Now you know all about protecting your VALORANT account with 2FA – from the simple setup process to how it works with those email verification codes. Setting up only takes a few minutes but can save you from losing your entire account.
