G2 Gozen legend Petra “Petra” Stoker announced her retirement from competitive VALORANT on December 8, ending a remarkable 13-year career across multiple FPS titles.

Contract Talks Fall Through

The 32-year-old Dutch player decided to retire after failing to reach a contract agreement with G2 Gozen for 2026. Rather than join another team, Petra chose to end her competitive career and transition into streaming.

“After many years competing at the highest level in esports, this has been the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make,” Petra wrote in her retirement announcement. The decision marks the end of an era for women’s VALORANT esports.

Five Years, Ten Trophies

G2 Petra Retires After 13 Years Dominating FPS Games

Petra leaves VALORANT with an incredible trophy collection. She won ten titles total, including the inaugural 2022 Game Changers Championship, nine EMEA regional championships, and the Red Bull Instalock tournament.

Before VALORANT, Petra spent eight years competing in CS:GO where she built her reputation as a world-class player. She won Copenhagen Games 2018 and multiple DreamHack Showdown events before switching to VALORANT in 2021.

She joined G2 Gozen just four months into her VALORANT career and became one of the core pillars of the roster that dominated EMEA Game Changers for years.

Difficult Final Season

The 2025 season brought challenges that signaled the end was near. G2 benched Petra after Stage 1, attempting a role shuffle that moved her from Initiator to Duelist. The change proved unsuccessful and Petra sat out Stage 2 while the team went 9-0 in groups.

Petra returned for Stage 3, helping G2 win the championship and qualify for Game Changers Championship in Seoul. However, the international event ended with G2’s worst placement ever at 5th-6th after three straight top-three finishes previously.

Community Tributes Pour In

The esports community flooded Petra’s announcement with emotional tributes. Teammate Esllene “Akita” Xu wrote, “Enjoy your retirement, you paved the way for so many of us.”

Longtime friend and former teammate Michaela “mimi” Lintrup shared, “My best friend, a legend in the field of esports and always and forever the funniest person I know of. It will never be the same without you.”

G2 posted their own tribute stating, “13 years of ruling over FPS, 5 years of conquering in VALORANT, the competitive scene will not be the same without you.”

Petra’s retirement closes a chapter on one of the most successful careers in women’s FPS history.
