Eco rounds come every half in the first and second rounds most of the time. You can expect to play an eco or save round if your team economy is lower than expected. You can buy various pistols, shotguns, SMGs, machine guns, or long rifles with a light shield to save rounds.

Winning economy rounds and getting thrifty is possible only with the right eco weapon buys with a good strategy. With that said, here are the best eco-round weapons you can play according to the experienced Valorant players we’ve conferred with.

When it comes to saving rounds, you need to consider the economy of the next rounds as well. Considering everything, we’ve put the eco weapons list in descending order, all under 1600 credits to help you pick the best weapon according to the economy and player recommendations for you to get thrifty.

Sheriff

Sheriff, the oldest and most reliable piston that can provide you with one tap, the one-shot montages. One headshot or three body shots can bring down an enemy with a full 150 HP.

For pistol rounds, we do recommend at least one player play a sheriff, as it does put the team an advantage against the enemy since they will be mostly on 100 HP. It is cheap and only costs 800 credits, so it is the perfect weapon for a full save round if you have a good aim.

Stinger

Stinger has become my favorite SMG as many players compared to Spectre, especially in the eco rounds. This has increased fire rate and a few bullets are enough to kill an enemy with full HP. However, the spray can be sometimes hard to control in the stinger so burst fire is mostly recommended.

Stinger can be used for force buys against enemies with full buys. It only cost 1100 credits which is way cheaper than other weapons except for the pistols and marshals. Even in VCT matches stinger is widely used in eco rounds to get the win.

Marshal

Marshal, the most favorite long rifle for a light buy in Valorant is also used by many players in Valorant during eco-friendly rounds. Marshal only costs 1100 credits which can deal 101 HP damage for a body shot and 202 HP for a headshot.

This is the third most played weapon when players are saving for the next round in ecos, especially on maps with good long rifle angles like Ascent, Haven, Icebox, Breeze, and Pearl.

Shorty

The cheapest shotgun/pistol you can buy on Valorant for eco rounds. This is suitable if you are a controller like Brimstone, or Omen to hold close corners. This is perfect for most of the maps but preferred in Ascent, Bind, Split, and Haven as well.

This shotgun only has two bullets and reloading takes 1.75 seconds Shorty can get a kill with one shot close range if the enemy’s upper body is hit, but for a kill, it would require two shots. Overall, this is good for close-range battles inside smokes or near corners during full save rounds, the only downside is taking a long time to reload.

For long-range fights, this is not suitable, so if you are going for a shorty it is recommended to keep a classic nearby to switch fast.

Frenzy

Frenzy is the least played pistol in Valorant, but with the higher fire rate it can take more than three kills with a mag if it is used properly. It can deal 78 damage to the head and 20-26 damage to the body.

This pistol only cost 450 credits which is cheap compared to the sheriff and ghost, so Frenzy is a good pistol if you are on a low budget. Overall, the frenzy is perfect for pistol rounds and eco rounds due to its low price and good fire rate at close ranges.

Classic

The only weapon that you can buy on Valorant for free is one of the best weapons you can play in an eco-friendly round since it deals 78 damage to a close-range headshot. As it would not hurt your economy, you might be able to buy a light shield in pistol rounds.

The classic right-click is used to dominate the pistol round and perform against the ghost, frenzy, and sheriff players at close ranges. After Episode 5 this was put through significant changes but still, the right click works at close range even though it is weak compared to before.

Bucky

Bucky the favorite shotgun with more than 2 bullets dominates in close-range battles with eco rounds and pre-buy rounds most of the time. Especially, in maps like Split, Bind controllers, or duelists like Raze, Jett plays bucky inside smokes to land more kills.

It costs 950 Credits and has 5 bullets which you can use with either left or right click is perfect for close-range battles, and close corner fights, but not so great for long-range fights. So, this is favorable in eco rounds mostly due to the low price compared to the Judge, and the damage it deals in close-range fights.

Ares

Ares is the uncontrollable, mini version of Odin itself. This can wall-bang anyone rushing into a site, especially on Bind and Ascent. It’s also one of the least-used weapons on Valorant, but it’s most suitable for eco-friendly rounds if you have 1650 credits to sacrifice.

This gun has an unreliable spraying pattern, so crouching while spraying the areas is recommended by those who are expert at it. Ares is good for wall bangs, long-range fights and but not that effective at close range.

Spectre

Spectre is another small machine gun available on Valorant similar to MP7 on CS: GO or CS2. This used to be an accurately sprayable gun before episode 5 but has gotten harder to control after the recent patch updates.

However, 2 headshots from the Spectre are more than enough to bring an enemy down to full health. 1600 credits for the Spectre is worth it for an eco-friendly round, or a force buy if you can get one or more enemies down with it. But when it comes to economy rounds we prefer Stinger against the Spectre.

The Conclusion

Eco-friendly rounds or the budget rounds on Valorant are sometimes necessary when your team economy is bad. But that does not mean that you need to lose these rounds. If you use the right kind of weapons that are budget-friendly, suitable for the specific maps, and deal more damage.

With these areas in mind, we’ve asked a couple of Valorant players to find what they use in eco rounds and listed them in descending order so you can find the best weapon to play on save rounds on Valorant. Hopefully, this will help you pull of an Thrifty or even turn a match around completely in your favor.
